3 Of Our Best Floorplans For Downsizing
Ready to downsize but don’t know where to start? Take a look at a few of our floor plans that will fit the bill.
Bigger is not always better. While many people spend the majority of their lives working to afford bigger, more elaborate houses, many retirees are actually looking for the exact opposite when they begin planning their move to the Villages of Citrus Hills.
After raising a family while maintaining a large house, the idea of having less house to maintain can be appealing. If that sounds like music to your ears, you are going to love each of these floorplans.
They all measure at less than 2,000 square feet of total living space and they are also part of the Care Free Home collection. That means that not only are they the perfect size, they also won’t need any exterior maintenance whatsoever.
But despite being on the smaller side compared to some of the other homes available at the Villages of Citrus Hills, they’re packed with popular features like open floorplans, luxurious master suites, beautiful lanais, and 2-car garages.
Let’s take a closer look.
The Amherst

With a total of 1,666 square feet of living area, this 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom floorplan is the smallest one available in the Villages of Citrus Hills. If you are looking to eliminate as much upkeep as possible, this is definitely the way to go.
As you enter the front door of The Amherst, you will find a guest bedroom and bathroom to the side of the house opposite the 2-car garage. You can then make your way back into the openconcept great room, kitchen, and nook.
In addition to that open space, there is also a study area, a lanai that runs the width of the great room and nook, and a master suite that also contains his and hers walk-in closets.
The St. Royal

The St. Royal is slightly larger at 1,682 square feet of living space. This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom floorplan is similar in width to the Amherst, but a bit longer.
The floorplan of the St. Royal is similar to the Amherst with the difference of a study located on the same side of the house as the guest bedroom and bathroom, which gives more room for the master suite.
Another difference is that the nook is stretched into a full dining room and the lanai covers the width of the great room and the master bedroom.
The Cromwell

At 1,798 square feet, the Cromwell is the largest of this group, but still might be considered a downsizing for many boomers. This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom floorplan is actually a hybrid version of the Amherst and the St. Royal.
It features the study on the guest bedroom side to make room for a larger master suite like the St. Royal does, but it also features a nook at the back of the kitchen like the Amherst.
The unique thing about the Cromwell is that in addition to the eating area adjacent to the kitchen like in the Amherst and St. Royal, there is also a dining room that is open to the great room.
While each of these three floorplans has their own unique features, they all have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and are less than 2,000 square feet.
