August Activities And Events At The Villages Of Citrus Hills
It's hard to believe that August is already here. Take a look at what we've got planned for the month.
The dog days of summer have arrived, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that things have slowed down here at the Villages of Citrus Hills. We are just as busy as ever with tons of great summer activities you can enjoy during the month of August.
You probably aren’t going to want to be spending much time outside in the heat during these summer days, but don’t worry, because most of the events lined up for this month are either inside or scheduled for the cooler evening temperatures.
Here are some of the exciting activities and events happening in the Villages of Citrus Hills this month:
Social Events
Baseball fans will be getting together for a group trip to Tropicana Field to see the Tampa Bay Rays host the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, August 12. The bus will be leaving at 3:30 pm for this 7:10 pm game and tickets for the entire event are $45 for members.
The Grille will be hosting the Citrus Hills Car Show in their parking lot on Friday, August 14 from 5 pm to 8 pm. This will be a free event where residents and guests can check out tons of great classic cars.
It might be hot outside, but the competition is even hotter at the monthly Trivia Challenge dinner and game show. This month, the event will take place on Tuesday, August 18 at 5:30 pm in the newly renovated Hampton Room. Dinner will include Chicken Piccata and Sliced London Broil.
If you are a fan of Latin music and Cuban cuisine, you won’t want to miss Copa Cabana Night in the Hampton Room on Friday, August 28. Tickets are $26 for members and $31 for guests, and that includes a fantastic Cuban buffet at 6:30 pm and live entertainment and dancing from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
The final social event of the summer will be Summer Splash Sunday on August 30 at the Activity Center Pool from 1 pm to 4 pm. There will be live music, fresh lemonade, and tons of great friends hanging out around the pool!
Educational Talks
Doc Talk is back on Tuesday, August 4 in our newly renovated Garden Room at the Grille at 3 pm. The topic this month is “Keeping Your Memory Healthy” and the guest speaker is Dr. Mary L. Stedman.
On Thursday, August 6, the Speaker Series will be welcoming the Crime Prevention Task Force to the Activity Center Auditorium at 1 pm to discuss “Crime Prevention.”
Artist Vanessa Brown will be leading Coffee & Canvas this month on Friday, August 14 at the newly renovated Activity Center Auditorium from 10 am to 2 pm. She will be instructing attendees on replicating Camille Pissarro’s “Pink Trees.”
Sports & Recreation
Since August is usually a slow month for golf around the Villages of Citrus Hills, it is actually the perfect time to really focus on improving various aspects of your game.
One of the best ways to do this is to participate in the beginner and intermediate clinics scheduled throughout the month. There will be free beginner golf clinics on August 3, 4, and 5. Then, there will be intermediate clinics on August 11, 18, and 25.
Golfers can also participate in the Dog Days Duffer’s Mixer on Sunday, August 30 at 3:30 pm on The Meadows course. Wearing something dog related to this event will shave a few strokes off of your total!
As usual, there will also be a free beginner tennis clinic at the Skyview Tennis Center this month. On Tuesday, August 11 you can learn all of the basics of the game without even having to bring your own racket!
Dinner Specials
August 11 is Surf n Turf night at the Skyview Restaurant. Guests can choose from dinners like Sea Scallops and Braised Beef Ravio, Skirt Steak and Jumbo Shrimp, Top Sirloin and Snow Crab, Chorizo and Clams, or Filet and Lobster!
The Skyview Restaurant will also be hosting a traditional turkey buffet on Tuesday, August 25 from 5 pm to 8 pm. In addition to awesome carved turkey, you will also find all the fixings here including pumpkin pie.
If brunch is more your pace, Skyview will be serving their fantastic Sunday Brunch on August 30 this month.
In addition to great food and drink specials, the Tiki Bar has live music booked for every Monday in August featuring musicians Bickley Rivera, The Bob Hope Band, Sal Gioe & Company, Rock Steady, and Bill Castner. They will also be kicking off their Sunday football parties once the season gets started!
With all of the heat we can surely expect this month, you might also want to schedule yourself some time to cool off. And Bella Vita Spa has exactly what you need with Green Tea and Cucumber Cool Down Facials and Cool-Mint Cucumber Massages on special all month.
Whether you are looking for fun social events, an opportunity to improve your short game, great dinner specials, or a cucumber massage, you can find it all right here at the Villages of Citrus Hills this month!
See you at all of these great events!
