February Events And Activities At The Villages Of Citrus Hills
February is our shortest month of the year but take a look at all the events we've got planned.
With holidays like Groundhog Day, the Super Bowl, Mardi Gras, and Valentine’s Day taking place during a month that is already short a couple of days, it doesn’t take much effort to make February feel busy and exciting.
Of course, that didn’t stop the folks at the Activity Center from putting together another absolutely packed calendar of events and activities. When you combine the special holiday-themed events this month with the regular activities that we see on the calendar every month, there aren’t many days where you will be wondering what to do here at the Villages of Citrus Hills in February.
Social Events
The biggest party of the month is definitely going to be the Mardi Gras Bash held on Fat Tuesday (February 9) in the Hampton Room. In order to get you into the spirit of the French Quarter, there will be live jazz music and everyone is encouraged to wear a Mardi Gras Mask. Doors open at 5 pm and the New Orleans inspired dinner starts at 6 pm.
The Citrus Hills Vacationers Club will be sponsoring a trip to Tampa Bay Downs on Sunday, February 14. Tickets are $79 per person and that includes brunch and transportation with tax and tip.
The “Irish Rogues” were the winning team at last month’s Trivia Challenge, but the “We No Stuff” and “Spare Parts” teams were right on their tails. This month’s Trivia Challenge will take place on February 23, so make sure you study up!
The Little Black Dress Club will be presenting a Spring Fashion Show on Friday, February 26 in the Hampton Room. This event will include lunch at 12 pm followed by a fashion show from La-Te-Da Boutique at 12:30 pm.
Arts & Education
Local travel affiliates will be on hand at the Activity Center Auditorium to answer all kinds of travel-related questions on Friday, February 5 from 1-4 pm. If you are interested in any type of vacation travel, this will be a great place to learn about a wide variety of options.
Another way to learn more about different travel options is to attend a meeting of the Citrus Hills Vacationers Club. They will be in the Activity Center Auditorium on Monday, February 22 at 1 pm this month and will be featuring a guest speaker discussion traveling to Iceland.
If you would like to learn how to master your mind, control your emotions, and help to heal your body internally, you won’t want to miss Donna Blevins speaking on “The Mind Shift Blueprint” in the Activity Center on Saturday, February 6 at 1 pm.
Local Artist Vanessa Fuller-Brown will be bringing Coffee & Canvas back to the Villages of Citrus Hills on Wednesday, February 10 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. This month, anyone attending will be working to replicate Vincent van Gogh’s “Field of Poppies.”
This month’s topic for Doc Talk is going to be “Learn Your Risk. Take Control.” Dr. Potu will be explaining exactly how you can do just that on Monday, February 15 at 1 pm in the Activity Center.
Golf & Tennis
Anyone looking to improve their golf game this winter should definitely take advantage of the Free Golf Clinics that are being held every Saturday morning at 9 am at the Skyview Driving Range. They change the focus of the clinic each week, so there is always something new to learn.
There are lots of competitive options for golfers this month starting with the Skyview Men’s Sr., Super Sr., Legends, and Super Legends Tournament on February 8 and 9. That will be followed by the Citrus Hills Senior Stroke-Play Championship, which will hold its first round on February 15 and its second round on February 22.
If you are looking for a little less serious competition, you might want to check out the Citrus Hills Valentine’s Couples Open on February 6 or the Brentwood Valentine’s Sweetheart Tournament on February 21.
Over on the tennis side, there will be a Free Beginner Tennis Clinic on Tuesday, February 9 at 11 am. You can then practice and put those skills to use next month at the Tennis Burger Bash on Sunday, March 20.
Dinner Specials
Skyview Restaurant is going all out for Valentine’s Day this year. Their menu for the special day will include appetizers like Bacon Wrapped Scallops and Fire Roasted Shrimp, and then entrees like Surf and Turf, Filet Mignon, and Pan Seared Chicken Oscar.
The Grille will also be pulling out all the stops for Valentine’s Day by serving dinners like Pan-Seared Filet Medallions, Pan Seared Veal Medallions, Stuffed Chicken Breast, and Shrimp Cocktail.
If you aren’t having a party of your own, the Tiki Bar is going to be the place to be for the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7. Like any good sports bar, they will have specials on loaded nachos, chicken wings, and of course, plenty of drink specials!
If you should happen to find any free time on your schedule in between all of these events, you might also want to stop by Bella Vita Spa this month. They will be having specials on Valentine’s Massages and Ultimate Spa Pedicures.
