Pro-Am Tournaments, Herman’s Hermits, Doc Talk, Clam Bake and the Chick Chat Spring Fling Ladies’ Social Luncheon! April is Jam Packed at The Villages of Citrus Hills.
The month of April boasts what might just be the busiest month of events and activities we have ever seen here at the Villages of Citrus Hills. The calendar is absolutely packed full of golf and tennis championships, great entertainment, social events, guest speakers, and fantastic dinner specials.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the upcoming events that you’ll want to be sure to mark on your calendar!
Easter Weekend Events
Easter weekend is a great time to relax with friends and family in the Villages of Citrus Hills. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast Buffet at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 19 in the Hampton Room. This event will also feature face painting, coloring, a magic show, and an appearance by the Easter Bunny.
On Sunday, April 20, Skyview Restaurant will be serving a plated Easter Dinner between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Diners will have their choice of Salmon, Filet, Prime Rib, Stuffed Shrimp, Pork Chop, Ham, or Chicken Piccata. Reservations are required for this dinner.
If you prefer a buffet-style Easter dinner, The Grille will be serving a fantastic buffet with carving stations and dessert from 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Easter Sunday.
Golfers will be thrilled to know that Brentwood is hosting a 9-hole Easter Sunday Tournament.
Entertainment
The 2014 Show Series kicks April off with Joe Beddie’s R-rated comedy show. This show will take place on Tuesday, April 1 at 7:00 pm in the Hampton Room. Tickets are $15 for members.
On Thursday, April 3, the 2014 Show Series continues with Battle of the Saxes Round 2. This show will be held in the Activity Center Auditorium at 7:00 pm and tickets for members are $19.
[Hermans Hermits at The Villages of Citrus Hills] The final April show for the 2014 Show Series will be Herman’s Hermits performing live on Thursday, April 10. There will be two shows that evening, one at 6:00 pm and one at 8:15 pm. Tickets are $35 for members.
In addition to the shows being presented by the 2014 Show Series, April will also feature a performance from the Citrus Hills Chorus. The chorus will be performing Victory 1945: A Musical Celebration on Friday, April 11 in the Activity Center Auditorium. The show will feature all of your favorite patriotic songs. Tickets will be $9, and the show will start at 7:30 pm!
Educational Speakers
On Friday, April 4, Citrus Hills will be hosting Amy Meek, who is the CEO of United Way of Citrus County. She will be discussing all of the social needs that exist across Citrus County and what United Way is doing to improve those conditions. This event will start at 2:00 pm in the Activity Center Auditorium and is free, but anyone planning on attending is asked to RSVP with the AC Service Desk.
Ricky Barlow from Merrill Lynch will be speaking in the Activity Center Auditorium at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8. He will be accompanied by representatives from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and Bank of America’s Corporate Security. They will be discussing ways to avoid scams and identity theft.
The free Doc Talk seminars will return to Citrus Hills on Tuesday, April 22. The topic for this seminar will be the detection, prevention, symptoms, and treatment of Afib. The seminar will be led by R. Prasad Potu, MD, who is a board-certified cardiologist. The seminar will start at 6:30 pm.
Social Events
Trivia Buffs will want to mark Tuesday, April 15 on their calendars. That is the night of the 10th Anniversary Trivia Challenge Dinner & Game Show. There will be a cash bar starting at 5:30 pm, dinner at 5:45 pm, and then the game show fun begins at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $24 for members, and $29 for guests.
On Thursday, April 24, Skyview will be hosting the Southern Mid-West Social for members from Alabama, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. This event is a great way to meet and get to know other Citrus Hill Members. It is scheduled to start at 4:30 pm and last until 6:00 pm.
The Chick Chat Spring Fling Ladies’ Social Luncheon is scheduled for Friday, April 25 at 11:30 am. This month will feature live music, as well as makeover tips from M Hair Studio.
Dinner Specials
Monday, April 7 is Healthy Entree Night at The Grille. The menu that evening will include Broiled Grouper, Portobello Mushrooms, and Caribbean Spiced Chicken. On the following Monday, The Grille will be serving Bourbon Pecan Pork, Raspberry Pecan Chicken, and Southern Crusted Catfish as part of Perfect Pecan Night.
On Tuesday, April 15, Skyview Restaurant will be featuring an Italian Extravaganza! The menu that evening will contain Tortellini tossed in a Tomato Basil Cream Sauce, Eggplant Parmesan, Mussels in a Garlic White Wine Sauce, Lasagna, Chicken Marsala, Italian Sausage, and Stewed Vegetables.
Clam Lovers won’t want to miss the Clam Bake that will be hosted by Skyview Restaurant on Tuesday, April 29. That menu will feature New England Clam Chowder, followed by personalized Clam Bake Bags filled with your choice of seafood and vegetables and then steamed. There will also be an optional Lobster Tail add-on.
Golf & Tennis
The 2014 Skyview Men’s Golf Club Championship will be held on Monday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 8. There will be two separate divisions that each compete in a 36-hole stroke play tournament for the title of 2014 Skyview Men’s Club Champion.
The Ladies’ Golf Club Championship will be held later in the month on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26. There will also be a Ladies’ Spring Invitational on Monday, April 15 where teams of two will play the best ball.
Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6 will be the Men’s and Women’s Skyview Club Doubles Tennis Championship. There will be four different divisions, and there will also be a banquet following the tournament.
The Skyview Tennis Center will be hosting its first Pro-Am Exhibition on Saturday, April 12. There will be an exhibition doubles match between four professional tennis players, who will then play with 8 club members.
