Happy New Year! This is the time of year that everyone is busy making predictions for what might happen, as well as resolutions about what they intend to do differently in the year to come.

Here at the Villages of Citrus Hills, we are predicting that the 2016 events and activities calendar is going to be busier than ever, and one of the best resolutions you can make is to make sure you attend more of them!

Here are some of the exciting events and activities that are already planned for the month of January.

Social Events

One of the biggest parties of the month will be the Casino Night event on January 14 in the Hampton Room. There will be tables for blackjack, poker, roulette, and craps. And if you aren’t a big table game player, there will also be slot machines. Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the hors d’oeuvres and games start at 7 pm.

The Citrus Hills Vacationers Club will meet on Wednesday, January 20 at the Activity Center at 3 pm. The guest speaker this month will be Judy Keller from Crystal Cruises.

If one of your resolutions is to get more involved this year, a good place to start will be the Activity Club Showcase in the Hampton Room on Tuesday, January 26 from 1-4 pm. There will be representatives from more than 50 of our activity clubs on hand to tell you everything you want to know about each club.

Arts & Education

January is going to be a big month for anyone who enjoys our Doc Talk seminars. We will be having Dr. Virginia P. Madla speak about infections on January 11 at 3 pm, and Dr. Louis Bois speaking on Type II Diabetes Mellitus on January 29 at 4 pm. Both of those talks will be held in the Activity Center.

F.W.H. & Associates with Florida Blue will be in the Activity Center on Wednesday, January 13 to lead a discussion on open enrollment for Medicare and the Affordable Care Act Marketplace.

The popular Coffee & Canvas will be back on Saturday, January 16. This month, local artist Vanessa Fuller-Brown will be leading the class in replicating Claude Monet’s “Nympheas”. Tickets for this event are $60 and include all supplies.

Golf & Tennis

The January golf calendar will start with the New Year’s Open on January 2. There will also be a VIP Tournament on January 15 and the Ladies’ Winter Invitational Tournament on January 18.

If you are looking for more laid-back golf options, the 9 Hole Scramble on January 23 and the New Year’s Backward & Forward Tournament will be great options. Both are going to be held on the Brentwood course.

If you could use a little help refining your game, there will be golf clinics for beginners on January 4, 5, and 6 and clinics for intermediate golfers on January 12, 19, and 26. There will also be free clinics at the Skyview Driving Range every Saturday in January.

For those who prefer tennis to golf, the January Beginners Tennis Clinic will be held on Tuesday, January 12 at 11 am.

Dinner Specials

The big special at Skyview Restaurant this month will be their Italian Night Buffet on Tuesday, January 12. The dinner buffet will include Chicken Marsala, Parmesan Crusted Tilapia, and Sweet Italian Sausage.

Another great dinner special at Skyview Restaurant will be their Food & Wine Pairings from Around the World on Tuesday, January 26. Everyone will be served two separate courses, each paired with a delicious wine, followed by dessert paired with a third wine selection.

Skyview Restaurant will also be having their Sunday Buffet specials on January 17 and 31.

The Grille will feature a Pasta Night special on January 14 and a Fiesta Fajita Night on January 19. The Pasta Night special will include a glass of wine and they will be serving Coronas and Margaritas on Fiesta Fajita Night.

Once again, it looks like there is going to be a lot to do here at the Villages of Citrus Hills this month. So if you are looking for a little rest and relaxation in between all of these great events, you might want to schedule an appointment for a Peppermint Patty Pedicure, which is one of the January specials at Bella Vita Spa.
