Join the March Madness at the Villages of Citrus Hills.
Just like that, the first two months of 2016 have already come and gone. As we roll into the month of March, springtime is coming to the Villages of Citrus Hills.
One of the most exciting aspects of springtime along the Gulf Coast is that all of our favorite baseball teams have headed to their annual spring training facilities. If you are looking for a great day trip, check out any one of the teams that makes their spring home nearby.
If you prefer to stay close to home, there are a lot of options on this month’s activities and events calendar right here at the Villages of Citrus Hills. Let’s jump right in and check out some of the feature events planned for March.
Social Events
One of the biggest parties of the month will be the Celtic Festival in the Hampton Room on Saturday, March 12. The party starts at 5 pm with a dinner buffet and show at 6 pm, followed by live music and dancing at 7 pm. The show will be from Hogan’s School of Irish Dance, and the live music will be performed by Gypsy Reel. And of course, the food will have an Irish flair.
The “Zodiacs” beat out the “Newbies” and “Gone-A-Lot” to take home first place in February’s Trivia Challenge. This month, Trivia Night will be held on March 15, so mark your calendars and start studying all of the otherwise useless facts you need to know to win.
Another huge event this month will be the Easter Egg Hunt in the Hampton Room bright and early on Saturday, March 26 at 9 am. In addition to the Easter Egg Hunt itself, there will be a magic show, face painting, and an appearance by our old friend the Easter Bunny. And a delicious breakfast buffet to follow.
Arts & Education
There will be an information session covering the details of Understanding Social Security Benefits at the Activity Center Auditorium on Monday, March 14 at 12:30 pm. Then, on Wednesday, March 16 at 3 pm, Dr. William Gelinas will be at the Activity Center speaking on the topic of Vein Problems as part of the DocTalk series.
Coffee & Canvas will be back on Saturday, March 19 at 10:30 am in the Activity Center. This month, local artist Vanessa Fuller-Brown will be instructing the group on how to replicate Georgia O’Keefe’s “Hibiscus with Plumeria.” Tickets are $60, and that includes all of the supplies you need as well as fresh brewed coffee.
Debbie Catron from MSC Cruises will be at the Activity Center Auditorium on Thursday, March 24 at 1 pm. She will be speaking to the Citrus Hills Vacationers Club about cruising through the Panama Canal, and she is also a great source of information on any other type of cruises you might be considering.
If you have ever wanted to learn about ballroom dancing, there will be classes starting on Wednesday nights in Studio A at the BellaVita Spa. This month, the classes will focus on learning the Rumba with beginners starting at 6 pm and intermediate dancers following at 7 pm.
Golf & Tennis
If you are new to the game of golf, you will definitely want to get involved with the brand new Newbie Nine-Hole Golf League that will be playing the Meadows Course every Thursday at 3 pm. Golf Pro Wayne Larsen will be cruising the course each week helping all of us Newbies improve our game.
All golfers from newbies to pros should make a point to stop by the Nike Club Fitting that is happening on March 7 to make sure that their equipment isn’t holding them back.
As for actual golf tournaments this month, members can look forward to the Citrus Hills Four-Leaf Clover Open on March 5, the VIP Tournament at Ocala National on March 9, the Skyview Ladies’ Club Championship on March 9 and 10, the Men’s Member-Guest Tournament on March 18 and 19, and the Citrus Hills Men’s Club Championship on March 23 and 24.
Over at the Skyview Tennis Center, there will be a free beginner’s tennis clinic on Tuesday, March 8 at 11 am. You can then put those skills to good use competing in mixed doubles at the Tennis Burger Bash on Sunday, March 20 starting at 2 pm.
Dinner Specials
All of our coffee lovers should make a point to stop by the brand new CafeVita this month to check out their selection of cappuccinos, espressos, high-end coffees, and other beverages. This is the perfect way to start your early morning round of golf or to relax after a morning workout.
There are two big holidays this month that each have their own dinner specials planned. On Thursday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, Skyview will be serving a full buffet of traditional Irish food. The Grille will also be serving an array of Irish cuisine a la carte.
The second big holiday of the month will be Easter Sunday on March 27. For this one, The Grill is putting out a traditional Easter Buffet and Skyview Restaurant will be serving more upscale individual dinners. Both menus look absolutely fantastic.
Skyview Restaurant will also be holding a Wine Tasting event on Tuesday, March 8 from 5-8 pm, as well as a Brazilian Steakhouse Night where the menu is just packed with different meats on Tuesday, March 22.
Last, but certainly not least, the BellaVita Spa will have Bamboo Fusion Massages and Lemongrass Spa Pedicures on special throughout the month of March, so if you are looking for a way to kick back, relax, and pamper yourself, you should definitely make an appointment there!
Have a great month, and don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour on Sunday, March 13!
