Temperatures are cooling down, the breezes are coming off the Gulf and the windows are opening around Citrus County.  See what great events and dinners we have planned for September.

Another summer has come and gone as we are now into the month of September. The kids have all gone back to school, the baseball season is winding down, and football is about to start heating up.

Not only are new seasons kicking off on a national level, many of our friends and neighbors are returning from their summers up north ready to participate in all of the activities and events happening around the Villages of Citrus Hills this month.

As usual, there is no shortage of fun things to do happening throughout the community.  Let’s take a look at some of the events and activities you won’t want to miss this September.

 Social Events

The social events will get started early this month with Dinner and a Show in the Hampton Room on Thursday, September 3. Charlie De and Ken Brady will be performing at 7 pm following a dinner of Beef Tips Marsala and Chicken Cordon Bleu at 6 pm.

Trivia Challenge is back on Tuesday, September 15 in the Hampton Room. Last month’s winners were the Irish Rogues, but this month is anyone’s game. Dinner for this event starts at 5:45 pm and the trivia starts flying around 6:30 pm.

Another really fun social activity planned for this month is the Boogie & Blues Dance Party on Friday, September 18. The Smoking’ Torpedoes will be playing all of your favorite blues songs in the Hampton Room starting at 7 pm.

Clubs & Seminars

Coffee & Canvas will be back again this month on Thursday, September 10 in the Activity Center. This month, artist Vanessa Brown will be teaching participants how to replicate Georgia O’Keefe’s “Three Lilies” from 10 am to 3 pm.

Wednesday, September 16 will be the first ever monthly meeting for the Citrus Explorers Club. Representatives from The Travel Authority of the Nature Coast will be discussing vacation opportunities for 2016. This is a members only event, but the club is free to join.

Dr. Jeffery Kinnard will be discussing “Chiropractic Care for Better Health” at this month’s DocTalk seminar on Tuesday, September 22 in the Activity Center at 6 pm.

Sports & Recreation

The big golf event this month will be the Labor Day Open on Saturday, September 5 on The Oaks course. The shotgun start will be at 8:30 am and beverages and lunch will be provided afterwards.

On Sunday, September 27, The Meadows will be hosting Labor Duffer’s Mixer at 3:30 pm. Bonus strokes will be available to anyone wearing something associated with babies or going into labor!

Golfers will want to note that The Meadows course will be closed for aeration on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9. There will be specials on The Oaks course for each of those days.

Tennis players can participate in the Free Beginner Tennis Clinic on Tuesday, September 8 at 11 am. There will also be USTA Combo League Play kicking off on September 5 this month.

If you don’t eat too much on Labor Day, you’ll definitely want to check out Shrimp & Rib Night at Skyview on Tuesday, September 8. There will be Memphis Style Ribs, Asian Style Ribs, New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp, and Rosemary Shrimp.

Seafood lovers are going to enjoy the Catch of the Keys special at Skyview Restaurant on Tuesday, September 22. There will be lots of options for fresh fish, shrimp, and scallops

Skyview Restaurant will also be having their regular Sunday Brunch on September 27, and will then host a Member Appreciation Extravaganza Buffet on Tuesday, September 29.

Looking ahead to next month, you definitely don’t want to miss the Vegas Night Dinner Show on Friday, October 2, and the Activity Center Service Desk is taking reservations for a trip to Tampa to watch our Bucs take on the New York Giants on Sunday, November 8.
