We all love an entertaining show. The song and dance that gets our feet tapping, the tunes that get our heads bobbing and laughter that leaves us with tears running down the cheek. These are all part of the experiences enjoyed by audiences at the entertainment events featured at the Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club.
At the helm of coordinating the full featured show schedule is Social Director Sharon Skeele-Hogan. Over the last few years Sharon has elevated and retooled the club’s entertainment events by expanding the scope of shows and catering to the preferences of members.
“In the past, shows had been planned around the tastes of traditional retirees that preferred musical ensembles and solo singers. Although we still include some shows of that style, it is the preferences of the baby boomer that influences today’s show format. More comedy, classic rock ‘n roll and jazz are at the forefront today,” notes Sharon.
To accommodate the increase in number of shows and “boomer” orientation, the club presents three distinct show series. The Big Show Series represents the largest grouping of events. Among the shows highlighting the upcoming season are Richard Street and The Temptations, Jay and the Americans, Bowzer of Sha Na Na fame together with tributes to Bobby Darin, the Beach Boys and the Four Seasons.
The next collection of shows is the popular Comedy Club Series. These events showcase stand-up routines from some of the funniest comics around.
Finally, there’s the unique High Brow Concert Series offering a wide spectrum of select musical motifs that encompass classical music, jazz and popular choices including Big Band era and tributes to vocal greats.
