Whether you are ready for it or not, there is no denying that technology is rapidly changing the world we live in.
In an effort to better serve its technology-friendly residents, the Villages of Citrus Hills recently unveiled a smartphone app that gives residents access to an incredible amount of information at the tap of a finger.
The app is now available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. It provides residents with instant access to information about restaurant specials and upcoming events, as well as directory information, a great community photo gallery, and the ability to read the latest community newsletter right from your smartphone!
With all of the options that are built into this app, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of information it places in your hands.
When you first open the app, you are presented a screen that contains the Club logo with some pictures from around the community. Below that are 10 icons that take you into different parts of the app.
Let’s take a quick look at some of the most useful components that are featured among those buttons:
Specials
The Specials icon will be a great help to anyone who likes to take advantage of all of the fantastic meal specials that are offered each month at the Skyview Restaurant and The Grille. You can tap on either restaurant and be taken to a list of advertisements promoting each special event being held at the particular restaurant in the near future.
On top of featuring the restaurants, the Specials section also gives you the option to look at activities that are grouped into Social Events & Activities, Spa & Fitness Specials, Golf Events and Specials, Retail Specials, and Tennis Events & Specials. Many of the specials listed in these sections are the same activities featured in our monthly post, but the app will give you the ability to sort for upcoming events by category.
Events
Next to the Specials icon you will find the Events icon. This takes you to a screen that lists all of the upcoming activities, events, and specials throughout the community lumped into one giant category and sorted by date. While this information is nearly identical to the information in the Specials section, presenting it in a calendar-style format allows you to see what is happening on any given day to make sure that you aren’t missing out on anything.
Info
Next to the Events tab is the Info tab, which, as you might have guessed, contains information about many of the amenities around the community. This is a great place to quickly check to see what hours the spa, golf courses, or tennis facilities are open. The info section also contains hours and full menus for each of the restaurants, which is a great feature if you are trying to decide on what to have for dinner!
Newsletter
The next icon in the top row is the Newsletter section. This area pulls up the most recent edition of the Connections Newsletter that we publish each month. The newsletter contains tons of great information, and now through the app you will have the ability to read it on any of your mobile devices.
Call
The final icon in the top row is the Call icon, which can connect you right to many of the amenities and offices located around the community. Rather than looking through your phone for a particular number, you can just tap on the office you would like to call in the app and a button will appear offering to place the call for you. While this might seem trivial, anyone who has ever wasted 20 minutes looking for the number to the Front Gate will surely appreciate it!
Other Icons
While the top row of icons contains an overwhelming amount of information, the bottom row is where you can have some fun and participate in the community features of the app. There is a Fun Cam icon that allows you to share your pictures with the community gallery, and there is also a Gallery icon where you can view other shared pictures.
There is also a Social icon that has links to the Citrus Hills social media accounts, and a Feedback button that allows you to give your own input about the app. The final icon is the Messages icon that will allow Citrus Hills to send you direct messages about upcoming specials and events.
Regardless of how acclimated you are to new technology, if you live in the Villages of Citrus Hills and have a smartphone or tablet, you are definitely going to want to check out the new Citrus Hills App.
Even if you don’t utilize it on a regular basis, you will surely appreciate it next time you are standing at the 18th green of The Oaks Course wondering what the special of the day is at The Grille!
