You're all moved in and ready to enjoy your new Florida home…find simple decorating and organizing ideas to inspire you.
Since you took the leap and chose to relocate to Florida, you may be a fan of Florida style decorating, but starting with a blank slate can be incredibly intimidating. One of the easiest ways to get your new home looking good quickly is to find a few key inspirations to work from.
Here are five great places to find those types of inspiration to help you iron out exactly what you want your new home to look like:
Houzz
Houzz is a web site and online community about architecture, interior design and decorating, landscape design and home improvement. This platform and mobile app features interior and exterior home photos, articles written by architects, interior designers and home design experts, product recommendations, and a user forum. This website can give you many ideas and you can put together an idea book for reference. Villages of Citrus Hill has a presence on Houzz. Just click on the icon on our website or use the following link.

If you have spent any amount of time at all surfing through pinboards on Pinterest, then you have probably stumbled on some great design ideas already. Well, there is plenty more where that came from.
Just searching for simple terms like “Coastal” or “Beach” will return hundreds and hundreds of pins that will overwhelm you with great ideas for your new home. One of our favorite searches is “Florida inspiration,” which returns all kinds of great rooms that look and feel like Florida.
Magazines
If you don’t find what you are looking for on Pinterest, then you can get the same types of ideas from a collection of interior design magazines that are available at any bookstore or supermarket.
One of the best magazines for finding Florida-style inspirations is Coastal Living. They don’t focus exclusively on Florida living, but most of the things they publish do fall within the general idea of what you might be looking to do with your new home.
HGTV & DIY Network
Another way to look for great ideas is to take a look at some of the homes decorated on the various shows on HGTV and DIY Network.
A growing number of these shows like Beach Flip, Beachfront Bargain Hunt, Island Hunters and Island Life focus on areas close to beaches and generally have the same vibe as the rooms you will find in Coastal Livingmagazine.
Local Restaurants
You can get a good idea of the types of styles that are popular right here in Citrus County by checking out the decor at all of the local restaurants you visit. By implementing the practice of always keeping your eyes open for new ideas, you will quickly collect more than a few great ideas for your new home.
Pro Tip: Make sure to take pictures of any ideas you find with your smartphone so that you can remember them clearly (and even print them out) later!
Local Shopping
For those people who are interested in jumping right into the decorating process, heading out to shop in any of the small towns surrounding the Villages of Citrus Hills is a great way to find new ideas and inspirations.
Many times, an entire room’s look can be inspired by one simple antique or decoration. Finding that one item might be all you need to get started.
Looking for inspiration for your new home can be very exciting, but you also want to be careful not to overdo it. Having six ideas for one space is often just as stressful as having zero ideas. So take your time and make a plan.
If you would like any help putting together a plan for your new home, the Villages of Citrus Hills has a design center with an accomplished interior designer, Jennifer Giraldo, and a staff that can be very helpful in making your vision come to life.
This is your new home, so let’s make it feel like home!
