October Activities And Events At The Villages Of Citrus Hills

October is here with the start of fall, and fall is a season that brings change. Take a look at some of our new events and activities happening here. 

 From Oktoberfest specials to Halloween parties, the month of October is absolutely packed with all kinds of activities and events at the Villages of Citrus Hills this year. 

There are a ton of great seasonal events happening, but all of the normal monthly activities are also on the calendar. With all of these options to pick from, you can expect to have a pretty busy month! 

Let’s jump in and take a look at some of the most exciting events happening around our community this month. 

Social Events 

The Shabbat Dinner Club will be holding its first meeting in the Garden Room at the Grille on Friday, October 9. There will be a cash bar starting at 5:30 pm and a slow roasted sliced chicken dinner served at 6:15. Tickets for this dinner are $22 for members and $27 for guests. 

On Thursday, October 15 there will be a Masquerade Ball in the Hampton Room. This is a “black tie optional” event that will also include masks, feathers, and capes! Dinner will include Roast Pork with Cinnamon Apple Glaze and Beef Bourguignon. Tickets are $35 for members and $40 for guests. 

Our monthly Trivia Challenge is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20. Doors to the Hampton Room will open at 5:30 pm with dinner at 5:45 pm with the challenge officially kicking off at 6:30. 

The Citrus Hills Vacationers Club will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 28 at the Activity Center. This month’s guest speaker will be Bruce Waters, who represents five different travel companies.

 Art & Education 

If you have ever dreamed about writing a novel, you will definitely want to check out the writing workshop being held in the Activity Center Card Room on Saturday, October 3 at 10 am. This inaugural meeting will be led by local resident and author Ronnie Allen, who will be discussing pointers for novel writing.

 This month’s Doc Talk seminar will feature Dr. Keen, who will be talking about shoulder and joint health. The talk will take place on Tuesday, October 13 at 3 pm at the Activity Center. 

 Coffee and Canvas will be back this month on Friday, October 23 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm in the Activity Center. Vanessa Fuller-Brown will be leading the group this month as they recreate Van Gogh’s famous “Sunflowers” painting. 

Sports & Recreation 

Local Tennis players will want to be sure to attend Tennis Taco Fest on Sunday, October 11 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. There will be round robin men’s and women’s doubles followed by a build your own taco buffet. 

The monthly Free Beginner Tennis Clinic will be held on Tuesday, October 13 at 11 am.  

Tennis players will be looking for every opportunity to fine-tune their skills leading up to the Skyview Tennis Mixed Doubles Championship Tournament scheduled for the second weekend in November.

 On the golf side, there will be tons of fun to be had playing the Backward Golf Tournament on Sunday October 18 on the Brentwood Course and the Halloween Duffer’s Mixer on Sunday, October 25 on the Meadows course.  

Things will get a bit more serious at the 2015 Men’s Match Play Championship at Skyview on Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20. 

Dinner Specials

 You definitely won’t want to miss the Oktoberfest dinner special at Skyview Restaurant on Tuesday, October 6. That menu will feature Bratwurst, Wiener Schnitzel, Pork Chops, Hendl, and Sauerbraten. 

Tuesday, October 20 will be Surf N’ Turf night at Skyview Restaurant with five different steak and seafood pairings on the menu. Then this month’s Skyview Sunday Brunch will be held on Sunday, October 25. 

The Grille is planning an Irish Night on Tuesday, October 27 that will feature corned beef and cabbage along with Jack Dempsey playing Irish music. 

There will also be football specials every Sunday and live music every Monday at the Tiki Bar. 

October is also going to be a great month to visit Bella Vita Spa with Pumpkin Enzyme Facial Peels, Pumpkin Spa Pedis and Candy Apple Massages all on special.
