Make your new Citrus Hills home your permanent Florida residence before January 1, 2027, and you may qualify for Florida’s valuable Homestead tax benefits for the 2027 tax year, including up to $50,000 Homestead Exemption on your property’s taxable value, lower property taxes, and long-term protection from rapidly increasing property assessments. Florida voters will also consider a proposed constitutional amendment this fall that, if approved, could significantly expand homestead tax benefits for qualifying homeowners to up to $250,000. Those who miss the Jan 1 deadline, will have to wait an additional 5 years for the full benefits to go into effect.
