If you get the feeling that this year is just flying by, you are not alone. It feels like just yesterday that we were preparing for the end of summer and now we are already into the month of November! Now that all of our seasonal friends and neighbors are back for the winter, the activities calendar here at the Villages of Citrus Hills is really packed full of great events.

Social Events

One of the biggest things happening in Citrus Hills this month is the start of the 2014-2015 Entertainment Calendar. This year’s calendar will kick off with a Comedy Cabaret performance from Bobby Kelton on Tuesday, November 6 at 7:00 pm in the Hampton Room. The Flamingos featuring Terry Johnson will be performing at 6:00 pm and 8:15 pm on Thursday, November 13 at the Activities Center Auditorium, and there will also be a performance of “So This Is Broadway” in the Hampton Room on Tuesday, November 25 at 7:00 pm.

The semi-annual farmer’s market will be held in the Activities Center parking lot on Sunday, November 16. Local vendors will be selling their fresh produce from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. There will also be a number of other gourmet foods, holiday items, and other great gift ideas available for sale.

“The Wild Bunch” were the winners of last month’s Trivia Challenge. They will look to defend their title this month on Tuesday, November 18 in the Hampton Room. Doors are scheduled to open at 5:30 with a dinner buffet being served at 5:45 pm and the trivia game following at 6:30 pm.

Since the holidays are literally right around the corner, you will want to get yourself ready for them at the 10th Annual Holiday Boutique. This event will be held in the Hampton Room on Thursday, November 20 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm and will feature a host of vendors selling handmade jewelry, purses, ornaments, and snacks!

This month’s Chick Chat Luncheon for the ladies of Citrus Hills will be held on Friday, November 21 at 11:30 am in the Garden Room. The guest speaker will be Katie Neely from Aspire who will be talking about her efforts to teach about sexual health and relationships in local schools. Lunch will consist of tossed salads, stuffed peppers, and vanilla mousse.

Sports & Recreation

The winter golf season is off to a great start, and the first big event of November will be the Citrus Hills Men’s Senior Match Play Championship on Monday, November 10. Scores for this event will be adjusted based on each player’s handicap.

Just about every golfer will want to participate in the Veterans Day Scramble on Tuesday, November 11. There will be divisions for men, women, and couples, and you can feel free to put together your own teams or let the pro shop pair you up with other golfers. This scramble will start at 9:00 am.

The Ladies’ Citrus Cup Championship will be held Friday, November 14 at 8:30 am. This event will feature teams of two where the first nine holes are a handicapped scramble and the second nine holes are handicapped alternative shots.

On Saturday, November 15 at 8:30 am, The Oaks course will be hosting “The Girls” Giving Thanks Pro Shop Scramble. This scramble will have Ladies’, Men’s, Mixed, and Open divisions with lots of prizes to go around and plenty of food and beer!

Probably the biggest event of the year for couples play will be the 10th Annual Citrus Hills Members Couples Championship, which will be held on Saturday, November 23 starting at 12:00 pm. The first nine holes for this event will be played alternative shot (modified chapman), and the second nine holes will be a standard two-person scramble. Handicaps will also be factored into each team’s score.

If you are looking to improve your tennis game, the free beginner’s tennis clinic this month will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at 11:00 am. No equipment other than a pair of tennis shoes is necessary, and experience is not required!

Dinner Specials

There will be a special Veterans Day Dinner held on Tuesday, November 11 at 6:00 pm in the Hampton Room. This dinner will include a program that honors all who have served our country and there will also be live music from Marti Carroll.

Both Skyview and The Grille will be serving Thanksgiving Dinner specials on Thursday, November 27. The sit-down dinner at Skyview will include a wide selection of non-traditional Thanksgiving entrees and will be served from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The Grille will be serving a traditional Thanksgiving meal as a buffet from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Skyview will have Prime Rib specials on November 6, 13, and 20 this month. They will be serving Sunday Brunch on November 23 and have Steak Night on November 25. The Grille will also be serving many of their most popular specials this month like Surf & Turf, Prime Rib for 2, and All-You-Can-Eat Catfish.

Spa Specials

In addition to all of the great activities and events on this month’s calendar, there are some great specials like a Pumpkin Enzyme Facial Peel, Cranberry Spa Manicure, and Hot Spiced Stone Massage available at Bella Vita Spa.

Whether it’s a show at the Activities Center Auditorium, the monthly Trivia Challenge, one of the great dinner specials, or just a trip to the spa, make sure you mark your calendars now so you don’t miss out on your favorite events in November!
